The limits of wireless

wireless technology spans several sectors. In any case, this is to connect your device to another, either a server or a smartphone / tablet, to allow the sending of data from one to the other. We basically use one of the three following connection types:

1. Technologies to connect the user to the operator

it is essentially the technology used to consume your plan data. So, we have very few networks such as 2 G, 3 g and 4 G being the most popular.

2 technologies to connect the user to my private connection

it’s the connection to your network (or business), that is to say through a device such as a modem or a router allowing you to access the Internet. Wifi is the technology used to connect your laptop, smartphone or wireless tablet on your private connection.

3. technology to connect (at least) two devices

the Bluetooth allows you not only to connect your Smartphone/Tablet between them, but also to use some accessories. You can as well to connect a keyboard or mouse in Bluetooth on your computer, or connect a headset or headphones on your smartphone or tablet.

1. minor

before getting into the details, let’s first worries (and great shots of stress) that can make us these connections, and particularly the Bluetooth. Most of those who have used a keyboard or a mouse Bluetooth know that this can be very annoying: the connection between the two devices can be lost for a second, the batteries always fall flat at the time where you do not…

the most frequently occurring downside is also the low autonomy of accessories when it is not possible to put a battery. For example, the headphones have a battery about 5 h or 6 h, which is still little for those who spend a lot of time outdoors.

We can now get out of the field of Bluetooth and move towards that of the 3G / 4G. In France, we are lucky because data packages are particularly large. In most other countries, 3 GB / month is worth its weight in gold. What’s more annoying than to switch to low-flow because it has reached the threshold of data allowed? The ball is in the camp of the user, you might say, because to him to monitor its flow. It’s true, but who has never been in this situation?

These problems are minor, but can become annoying in the long run.

2. Security: possibility to decrypt the data

as we explained above, when you’re connected you send and receive data. You can well imagine: there are curious who want to know what data you send and, if they’re good (or rather bad, all depends on how you look at it), they can intercept your data.

stay always alert when you use public networks

you are not without knowing that it is possible to analyze wifi connections in order to find the password which will connect on the router. Fortunately, today there are good ways to protect themselves against such things, for example by setting your router to systematically deny MAC addresses other than those already posted. But what the public connections across? It should all just be careful and avoid performing any operation that could have a negative influence on your security, we of course first online banking.

3 waves

being a relatively new wireless technologies, need us more time to see what effect they would have on our health. It is one of the biggest controversies in connection with high-tech, have been very many studies, some contradictory, it is quite complicated to distinguish the true from the false.

what are we sure?

Devices using wireless technologies broadcast waves. At the same time, more and more people do not tolerate the electromagnetic waves, or at least have problems with them. Studies have shown the effects of this technology in the short term: use a phone without a hands-free kit, that is to say directly close to my ear / of my head, has a thermal effect. In other words, when the phone is in activity and loan of the head, it will tend to heat our brain.

The waves emitted by the smartphone are measured through the index DAS . Every smartphone has a DAS that own, some have a low DAS (which means little waves are broadcast), others have a high DAS and so should be avoided if you want to avoid problems. A decree leglislatif has been implemented in order to limit the DAS to a maximum value of 2W/Kg between the head and the trunk, and it also requires manufacturers to indicate the value DAS all their phones.

That is what we would like to know?

The most important question is this: is there a report cause and effect between waves and disease? Although it is not proven, it is likely that a link exists between the waves and cancer. We can of course tell us that the use of a hands-free kit solves this problem because it shies away from the ear, and so the head / brain. But if you have your phone in the front pocket of your shirt, waves would not harmful for your belly? Unfortunately, we have no concrete answer to the question, at least not for the moment. Studies are addressing these issues, we’ll see what the verdict when we have more results.

waves can cause serious disease?

Another interesting question would be to know the effect of the multiple ambient airwaves. If you live in a building, it is likely that your neighbors have a WiFi connection, and in this case you are overwhelmed by the waves of devices and connections of each and other. Is that what all these waves play a role in your health? Probably. In what proportions? Mystery.

What can we do about it?

Without alarm, we can get a few good habits that won’t cost us anything. Do not fall asleep with the smartphone next to our head is the first thing to do. Limit exposure to the air can not hurt but is not always possible. However, if you do not use your unit and do not need to stay connected, you can always turn off your wifi or your data.

To answer the question, so we can say that the benefits of wireless technology are undeniable, but that their consequences (and especially the 3rd point) must not be taken lightly.

What is your opinion on the subject? Do you think that wireless technologies can represent a danger?
