The curse of smartphones has continued in 2016

2015 was a black year for manufacturers of smartphones. Primarily responsible for the woes of manufacturers was the infamous processor Snapdragon 810 which tended to overheat. This year, we avoided a new scandal with Qualcomm and manufacturing problems but is not as far as the year was so much calmer. Return on this curse of smartphones which seems to have endured in 2016.

hard to not start the list of problems encountered in 2016 without mentioning the most famous, namely the Samsung Galaxy Note7 fiasco. Without this problem, 2016 would be a finally quite peaceful year in terms of curse.

This case was simply the biggest scandal ever faced by Samsung Mobile in its history. Real host of this second part of the year, the Note7 suffered a serious problem of batteries. These had indeed taken the bad habit to explode in a totally random way.

after a first reminder and a new marketing attempt, Samsung had to finally give up my phablette which announced itself as one of the best smartphones designed by the brand. According to several financial analysts, this failure was not sounds consequences since it resulted in a net loss of 15.3 billion euros. This amount corresponds to the 19 million of sales which had been planned during the life cycle of the product. The addition should be also added to this figure more than 1.4 billion euros in losses for the 4 million manufactured smartphones that will never be sold. Finally, let’s not forget the first reminder that had cost $ 1 billion to the company. In short, a mistake which costs enough expensive.

the OnePlus 3 and the calibration of colors

was at the launch of the smartphone, one of the few weaknesses of the terminal profile screen. The calibration of the screen was a little aggressive and far from a natural result which was entitled to expect for a killer flagship. This isn’t a surprise. Manufacturers like sharp and oversaturated colours to attract more users. 

But with its OnePlus 3, the Chinese carmaker had gone too far and many users had regretted this choice. A few months later, the firm deployed so an update to correct the shooting with a screen sRGB goodbye blue drift mode and the temperature curve was again consistent and realistic. OnePlus was also forced to deploy another update to reduce overheating problems.

iOS 10.1.1, which weighs down the autonomy of the iPhone

of course, Android manufacturers are not the only ones to be affected by the worries. Apple has also had its share of problems. In addition to battery problems on the iPhone 6 s where the Cupertino company to conduct a reminder at year end, the iOS update 10.1.1 had important consequences on the autonomy of the iPhone. The concordant testimonies of users complaining of a battery become scrawny were legion.

2016: a good record marred by the Galaxy Note7

Finally, without the scandal of the Galaxy Note7, 2016 would be a nearly perfect year. The year had begun well but the case of Samsung came tarnish a record until then rather positive. This year of 2015 black, manufacturers seem to have taken into consideration the comments of their community and learned the errors of the past. Samsung, with its Galaxy S8 , should not disappoint us.
