FT-TopCeed: a desktop computer with a Raspberry Pi

It is now made. After have presented you Pi portable – TOp made from Raspberry Pi , here Pi-TopCeed the Raspberry Pi-based desktop PC.
It is distributed in France by Kubii and my editing, compared to is the phone to ease.

I wouldn’t take a photo of the package itself but he was impressive, with several layers of bubble plastic and a layer of sturdy adhesive. On this side there nothing to say. Once the Cocoon is gently removed, this is what I found:

the inside of the cardboard


one does not account on the image but the cardboard measures 36 x 36 x 7 cm. It is extremely rigid and protects the content well. pitopceed_03 you can directly access the Pi-TopCeed. The upper part is a 14-inch diagonal screen (will I help you 14 x 2.5 = 35 cm) and the lower part is the cover that protects the “motherboard”.


the green card has a detachable part (right) which is a memory aid for GPIO, to insert on the GPIO based on the Pi – Top type you ordered.

the back of Pi – Top has an adjustable metal stand ( and strong ) which will allow to stabilize the computer and give it the desired tilt.

pitopceed_05 we find inside the box the Assembly instructions ( Instruction Manual ) in English… but the designs speak for themselves. Unfolded once the manual looks after the place 🙂 the more observant will have noticed that the photographer appears in reflection on the screen 😉

inside of the package, well protected by a pressed paper hull ( it looks like the box of egg carton but white ) we discover the power supply with a plug on the french format ( phew 🙂). There is also the SD card and the feet of the Raspberry Pi but we’ll be back.

SD card and feet magnetized

around card are the feet that will fix the Raspberry Pi to the box. No screw or spacer, just a foot with a tip that goes to clip in the hole of the Raspberry Pi. To be clipped, it is clipped. Must be pressed really hard. I even had a little afraid to damage the circuit board so I had to support. Bin so I don’t rush these things, I’m always afraid to spoil something with my big hands full of fingers 😉

to equip my Pi-TopCeed I chose a Raspberry 3 Pi… For that matter!

Magnets have made huge progress ( Finally, those who manufacture the magnets ) and they perform this function without problem despite their small size.

to me is not that I don’t like the Pi – Top OS but I prefer to install a version of Raspbian. So, I hope to be able to add these options in a normal Raspbian. I found a few online solutions but… ‘it doesn’t’ 🙂

pitopceed_35 Pi – top offers accessories for its line of computers to Raspberry Pi database. The prototype card plugs into the connector located under the map of ‘service’ that happens… the GPIO cable connected between the Raspberry Pi GPIO and map of ‘service ‘.

for watching videos, missing just one thing, the speakers. When the article on Pi – Top laptop, I asked the question to Pi – Top who told me to prepare for their products quality speakers.

the speaker uses the HDMI digital sound, which is provided on the PIN SPDIF map of ‘service ‘.


A inside the case of the speaker, there is a excellent audio receiver DIR9001 , which converts the digital signal, then a amplifier class D TAS2505 amplifies the signal. This amplifier has a volume control via the Raspberry Pi I2C bus.
A software must be installed on the Raspberry Pi to route the sound to the HDMI channel and to send the configuration and manage the volume.
I2C connector pins 40 the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins must be connected to the pins of the service card, either by using the 40 pin cable or wiring of the necessary with the wires.

Ave the Pi-TopCeed is a desktop machine that Pi – Top offers. You can find 159.90 Euro at Kubii . If you add a Raspberry Pi 3 makes a machine to 200 euros, practice, because one piece and easily transportable


the Pi-TopCeed is available in grey and green. My taste of the fluorescent colors made me choose green for my two Pi – Top 🙂


the glare of 14-inch screen has a resolution of 1366 × 768 and consumes only 2, 6W.


when I get the speakers and card proto, I also certainly advanced on the adaptation of the functions of Pi – Top OS on Raspbian… This will be another article 😉
