CyanogenMod: the Nexus 4 unofficially goes under Android 7.1 Nougat

the Nexus 4, released end 2012 still holds good and should be able to go to Android 7.1 Nougat . It is not an official update, since Google has stopped after support Android 5.1 Lollipop . This is so thanks to CyanogenMod as the old Google-phone of 2012 will be able to upgrade to the last version of Android.

the ‘old’ Nexus 4 will be able to move to Android 7.1 Nougat thanks to the effort of the community behind CyanogenMod having worn the version 14.1 of the custom ROM.

a version official, still very unstable

if that’s good news for the Nexus 4 , it is however a completely support official and not finalized at the moment. Indeed, the version 14.1 CyanogenMod, based on the code of AOSP Android 7.1 Nougat, is still in full development. So these are the “ nightlies ‘, versions compiled every evening which are available. They still contain many bugs, and some features may be missing or may not work properly.
