Tutorial: How to force the update to Lollipop on 6 and 6+ Honor [Full Guide]

One year after its announcement by Google, Lollipop is finally available on Honor 6 and Honor 6+ . The OTA update is still unavailable, it is necessary to go through manual manipulation, but one that is not necessarily obvious. So we decided you not detail step.

Honor 6+ (4 sur 14)

Until the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update comes directly OTA (over the air, without a computer), subsidiary Huawei has made available all its update files update on its website. Within minutes, it is possible to pass under the latest version of Android installing it manually.

Prepare the file

The first step obviously is to recover the right file on the Honor website . To facilitate this manipulation, you will find direct links to the files in question, provided in .ZIP format:

Once the recovered file, unzip it to your hard drive, which should give you a folder named “dload” in which there is a UPDATE.app file.

From this point, two options to you, ie copy this folder (full) on a microSD card, then to insert in the phone, or copy it to the root of the internal memory of the phone by connecting it to the computer via USB (for transferring files MTP) and by dragging and dropping using HiSuite (Windows) or AndroidFileTransfer (Mac OS X), both available on the phone during its first connection to the PC. Linux also allows thanks to mtpfs.

to install the update

Once the file up, go to the phone settings and select Updates all the way down. Note that it is necessary at this stage that the phone is at least 15% charged and the internal memory is not full. When in doubt, click Look for updates to check the OTA is not available. If the application indicates that no update is available, then click Menu, then “Local Update.”

If the previous step was successful, the Full Package: UPDATE.APP should appear. Click it, and then finally click Install in the window that opens.

The phone will then install the update and reboot into Lollipop. It’ll just take advantage of new! Note that making a backup of your personal data is always recommended in case the transaction does not happen as expected, even if the update is supposed to delete any recorded data on these phones.
